How to Redirect?

Hello,

This should be a really simple question. I have a page which posts to itself. Once I am done error checking how can I redirect to another page.

I thought I could you header(...); however, apparently it needs to be used at the top of the code.

Output buffering with ob_start() and ob_end_flush() enables you to use header() wherever and whenever it's needed.

<?php ob_start(); ?>

// entire script, code, or page here

<?php ob_end_flush(); ?>

Although ob_end_flush() isn't needed in MOST cases because it is called automatically at the end of script execution by PHP itself when output buffering is turned on either in the php.ini or by calling ob_start()

So just use use header() for redirecting.

<?php header("Location: http://$Server_Name/page.php"); ?>

I should also mention that Output buffers are stackable, that is, you may call ob_start() while another ob_start() is active. Just make sure that you call ob_end_flush() the appropriate number of times. If multiple output callback functions are active, output is being filtered sequentially through each of them in nesting order.

I need this to send the user a file when the script reaches this field!!

Yes header() can be used to redirect/refresh or load.

By the way $Server_Name is just easier to write than yourdomain.com.
It's not required or needed to perform a header() function.

I have already addressed that issue in my first post of this thread about output buffering; which I gather that you didn't bother to take the time to read thoroughly.

<?php ob_start(); ?>

<?php ob_end_flush(); ?>

Output buffering was originally designed to solve HTTP header errors.

well actuall i hace read all of the thread as well as the other threads but that didnt wotk out with me.

whean i tried to use ob_start and end i get this results:

Your host Lycos Tripod does not allow direct linking to any file. This has nothing to do with output buffering or php. You can not redirect any user to a file, because they must execute it from your homepage. Sorry, get a better host is all I can tell you.

i found a shell but know when the user hits the button it start download the file without echoing somw staff before. why?

Does this server have PHP? Maybe you need to rename your file to "soandso.php3"?
