can't post variable

I have php-4.2.3 installed on my machine. But unfortunately there's something wrong with my php. I can't post variable using method post. so to solve this problem i 'm using HTTP_POST_VARS, and the result i can post that variable. So i want to ask to all members here in order that my php can post variable using post method

note :
- i've try on another machine and my script can run normally
- My os : freeBsd4.5 with apache web server

you need to give us more than that......whats the error message it spits out!

If you are submitting a value in "myname" and $HTTP_POST_VARS['myname'] works and $myname doesn't, it just means that register_globals are off as a security measure.

Actually it is a bad habit to use $myname. Best with PHP4 is $_POST['myname'].

or the latta part of php4 $_POST['myname'] would be best
