Language files

I am tring to create a system that in ver 2 I can have multi language support. I tried to set it up already, but got errors all over the place. I ran inside the PHP

include(lang/english.php)

Then in the file, I had:

<?php
define("_MM_TY","Thank You");
?>

This is only 1 piece of the file, but it tells me that anywhere in the site that I have _MM_TY, it translates it to Thank You so that I can easily add languages later.

I have some other "my stuff" language thing
I made en.inc, de.inc, ... several lang files

this is how it looks the en.inc:

$reg_msg="Please fill out this form using your details";
$chose_msg="Now choose your desired<b>user name</b> and <b>password</b>";
$welcome_msg="welcome $user_name <br>Thank you for registering <br>Now you may use our services, just click the link below<br> ";

now ...in my files I use:

$langfile="path/".$lang.".inc";
require("$langfile");
....
<table><tr><td> ..<?echo $reg_msg; ?> 
....

so each language has it's own lang file, easy to administer, easy to create new ones, easy to implement .. easy ...

yeah, thats logical, but when you do it like that you get messed up with all other variables you're using.

Example:

print("<b>".$artnumber.": </b>".$art_nr);  

Can you tell which one is the variable that shows the data out of the database?
