send SMS through Nokia Cellphone connecting to Com 1 IR

I'd like to provide SMS-notification to user when they submit a form, using PHP.
What I want to know is:
1. How to connect N 6210 or N 8250 to linux based PC using IR connected to COM 1 / 2 ?
2. Any component/module must be installed so that PHP can use them.
3. Any other resources? Please help.

You'd have to use a 3rd party app, AFAIK PHP can't send/receive directly from a COM port.

Redcoal have an email to sms gateway which might be some use (haven't tried it though)
