phpdev5 has been installed, but got little problem..

hi there..im just new to this php and mysql stuff, due to my interest in it, i decided to install it on my computer. But theres a little problem, i installed php4, it works in the first few weeks but ofter some time it no longer working the way it used to. I decided to delete it and re-install a new one. I got the phpdev5, but i cant change the php.ini setting, the file in my c:\winnt is an "old file"..🙁 🙁 🙁 My programs done in the previous version used "register_globals=on", but i cant configure the new version since its default is "off"...Help me please? I really need it!!

How did you uninstall PHPDev5? Remember, you must always uninstall by first checking Add/Remove Hardware in Control Panel, if the program does not exist here then use the uninstall program provided with the software, and only manually remove a program when neither of these methods is available. Not the solution you were looking for but atleast you may know its cause. Have you tried to extract PHPDev5 into a temp folder and replace the new .ini file with the old one?

i tried to settle it in control panel but its not there, i also opened it in the d:\ghe\phpdev5\php4\php.ini (dos prompt) but the thing in there is my old version of php.ini. Its already "on", but when i check it again in the phpinfo() of the phpdev5 its "Off"..
What should i do? i remove the old version by deleting it manually, and to all folders used by it..I remove it(i thought..🙁 ) but it still dont work..🙁 🙁 Thanks for ur reply, i appreciate it a lot..If you had more ideas or possible solution to my problem im glad and i thank u for that too..
