what is the best web server to use on windows 98 that supports PHP and mysql? Thanks.

APACHE!! I've been using it at home on many windows machines for a long long time and takes care of me very well. There is a free executable you can get from the apache website. There are few settings you have to play with to customize it, but don't feel intimidated. All the instructions are packages with the installation.

I definitely recommend it over IIS, but I have no experience with Xiatimi.

IIS has a new security vulnerability announced and patched about once a month. Because it is not open source, there's no way anyone can look at the code and check for more vulnerabilities. We have to wait for someone to stumble upon it, e-mail Microsoft about it, then wait a month for MS to patch it.

As for Xiatimi, will PHP run on that?

thanks for the info. i downloaded the apache sever, (exe file). I installed it, but now Im confused on how the administration works, 🙁. Well, thanks anyways for all the info, helped me out alot. 😉

Apache has no front end. It's all commandline/configuration files.

Apache is a great webserver, and it isn't hard to configure or run. PHP is fully compatable with version 1, and version 2 is almost there.
