username from a session variable

My login keeps the username stored as a session variable.

A part of the site (well all of it really) is a series of on-line tests for high school students, which pass test scores to a database.

At present I make then enter their name again and this data along with score data is transfered to the database in a form.

I would like them to not have to enter their name but instead somehow pass the username from the session variable along with the score, thus ensuring that the test results go with the correct individual.

I hope that makes some sense.

well, when the student logs in, then you register the username:

$_SESSION['user'] = $username;

then when you're gonna save the data, then you do like this:

$save = mysql_query("insert into scores(name,score) 
values('".$_SESSION['user']."','".$score."')");
