Sendmail and PHP

Hello All,

If anyone can shed some light on this, I'd be most appreciative.

My PHP scripts cannot send mail using the mail() function.

I'm using apache 1.3.26 with php 4.2.1 on a Linux 2.2 system

I created the following test script (correct me if it won't work)

mail("trevor.boon@team.ozemail.com.au", "Test", "Test");

I get no error message, and no email.

telnet to the domain on port 25 works as a proper smtp agent. so I'm sure sendmail is configured correctly.

I admit it's not a new kernel, But I'm running Slackware 8.0. The 2.4 kernel that comes with it was apparently buggy 😛

I have further info that may help to crack this case.
In a flash of brilliance (shakes head), I decided to look at the logs and found this entry just after I ran the test script:

Jan 27 18:43:54 metabelis sendmail[8982]: h0R7hs6n008982: from=nobody, size=56, class=0, nrcpts=1, relay=nobody@localhost

Point is, I think sendmail is blocking said address as it is not an FQDN. Problem, sendmail is servicing an active mail server so I can't really open it up.

php.ini seems set up ok, Apache is set up ok... (meaning no nobody@localhost references)

Question I have is, where is it getting nobody@localhost from?
If I can change this, it might just work...

its the default email in the php.ini, maybe you should ask in the Coders section there is defietly someone there who can fix this problem (WeedPacket most likely)
