modifying information

I am working on a project that will take information from a standard text box on a form and check it for links.

Example

Please visit our new novelty shop http://www.noveltyshop.com and please let us know what you think of our new look.

I need the program to a) look through the text for the http:// tag and then find all the text after it to the next space and then modify the variable to include the <a href> tags.

Has anyone done this before?

If not, I will try to post my results that I come up with when I finish it.
