!! PHP 4.0.6 to 4.1+ possibilities HELP!!

Alright guys, i need your help here.
I am developing a CMS for a friends website.
His Server is running PHP 4.0.6, i bought the EditWorksPro WYSIWYG editor to save me time. Unfortunatly, EditWorksPro needs PHP 4.1+!! tell me that doesn't suck!

Is there anyway, without completly upgrading PHP on the entire server, a way to add a library(s) or fuction(s) to PHP 4.0.6 to make it compatable with 4.1+, i mean there can't be that much of a differance? right??

If it is possible, where can i get these libraries/functions/extenstions!!?!?

I Really need an answer pretty quick, need to get this running immeaditatly.

uhh it would just be as easy to download and update php to version 4.3... 4.1 is kinda old now

how easy is the install, ....it's not my machine

if its a winodws/mac os x machine very easy if its other these a little compliling today nothing that will make you go insane tho.

it's linux... how long you say the install takes, for someone who is doing it for the first time?
