automatically convert to url

i have coded my own discussion boards and cannot find this anywhere. if somebody enters in a URL anywhere in a textbox, how can i get PHP to automatically convert it to a url after they post.

how can i get my boards to AUTOMATICALLY covert www.phpbuilder.com to an active url?

Look at preg_replace() in the manual. (on www.php.net)
