record written on "Refresh"

Hi,

I have a page where users can register. If after registering they go back and hit refresh on the browser another record is written to the MySQL Db.

What would you suggest is the best way to go about preventing this ?

1. save the id as a $session value and check if it already exists?
2. "reset" the $_Post['submit'] value

or is there another way ?

Check that the this data doesn't already exist in the DB. Maybe when the script runs, have it store a hidden form value that tells the SQL query not to run again if this value is set. This way, if someone hit's refresh, it will see that this user has already submitted himself and won't do the insert again.

Another good way is to issue a header redirect after inserting the record. That way when they click refresh, it only refreshes the redirect, not the insert.
