what is a good book for learning php for beginners but covers enough material to make a whole web application? Thanks
MySQL/PHP Database Applications isn't a bad starting point
who is it by? what about Teach yourself PHP in 24 hours?
it is by jay greenspan and brad bulger, i would stay away from the 24 hours things if you want to be making applications, the 24's will show you the rough syntax and functions of php/mysql, but won't really get in depth as to why and how to use them

That one is supposed to be pretty good. If I remember correctly Laura Thomson was in on some pretty good Perl books.
