Help or advice needed please

I have built an availability calender, which connects to a database and checks the fileds. If the field has nothing in it then 1 is displayed. If the field has the word check in it then 1 is displayed in bold with a strikethrough. I copied this statment below upto december 31st which was a lot of hard work. Is there any of producing this in a loop? i.e so it goes jan1,jan2,jan3 and so on upto dec 31st, without having to produce this statment everytime by sadly copying and pasting and changing the number and month?

one way to do it is with arrays.
$month_arr = array("jan","feb" .... "dec")
$month_day_arr = array(31,28,.......31);
and then go in loop
for($i = 0 ;$i<count($month_arr) ;$i++)
{
$val = $month_arr[$i];
for($j=1;$j<=$month_day_arr[$i];$j++)
$val .= $j;
if (strcasecmp($val,$selected)
{
$val .= "selected";
}

}

or something like this.
(note when a year has 29 days in february)
