What the heck is wrong? Cookie Problems :(

I can't find out what's wrong with my log-in script! I even made two test scripts:

first file:

<?
   setcookie("nazcausr","dean");
   setcookie("nazcapwd","1234");
?>

second file:

<?
   echo $nazcausr;
?>

I run the first script, then the second, but nothing is returned (wheras the word 'dean' should have appeared)

what am I doing wrong?

Depending on the version of PHP you have, you may need to access your cookie values like this.

$_COOKIE["nazcausr"]

From my experience, u can do one thing. When u call setcookie, also define the domain (check the arguments for setcookie). That should make it work.

You probably know this already, but the setcookie function must be before any html output, i.e., even before the <HTML> tag in your document.

     SetCookie("Nazcausr", "dean", time()+3600, "", ".the-junkyard.net", 1);

     echo $_cookie["Nazcausr"];
?>

still nothing, ugh, this makes me angry, I've always had a problem with cookies, and now no one on my site can log in🙁

just a friendly reminder, sessions are wonderful, i always use sessions instead of cookies for my login scripts

Shouldn't this be :

<?
     echo $_COOKIE["Nazcausr"];
?>

The super-global $_COOKIE has to be capitalized I believe.

now my problem is that the cookie only seems to appear in the folder I created it in!

man! I hate cookies, now I know why I gave them up a long time ago😃
