Generate word document

Hi, i need ur expertise. Im running my php in Linux and i need to generate a word doc file. Is this possible? or is there a way to generate doc file using linux?

You can use COM on a Windows server, but not on Linux. Can you use RTF "Rich Text Format" instead?

What would be the 'proper' way to output your data into an RTF-document?
And where could I find the formatting codes for the various tags?

All would have to be done on a Linux-server (Apache 4.0.12)
