it drives me crazy!

Hello!
This drives me crazy....
i've a date from a Mysql ,(in Mysql format "2003-01-21 12:21:12"), and i need to have the year,month,day,hour,minute,seconds separated...
How can i do it?
I try to use date(something like that..$myYear = date("Y",$dateFromMysql)), but using the date in mysql format like second argument it fails because the put 1970..blablabla..
Any idea?

I think I'd try to do it within the query, like
SELECT DATE_FORMAT(column_name, '%Y') AS year, DATE_FORMAT(column_name, '%m') AS month, ...

If you can't do it that way, explode() may help to separate the values.
