Getting Movie size

I'm searching for a way to get the size of movies, so that i can have a script that shows movies.
These movies might be of a different format, like mov,wmv,*.mpg and so in.

Is there a way to get the sizes of these or is it just not possible?

Size can mean a million things.

File size?
Length?
Width x Height?

by the way, WMV can be encoded with multiple qualities so that a web browser on a 56k modem and a web browser on a 128kbps line hit download on the same file but get a different video streamed to their PC.

Well, i meant Width and Height.

If there's no width and height declared then the movie will obviously not show up in the correct size.

Therefore there must be a way just as getimagesize for images to get the size of the movies to implement them with <embed src="" width="" height="">

I think you're going to have to keep a separate file or database with that information.

Means the width and height must be declared when someone uploads the movie?

storing it in mysql is not the problem, i just thought there might be a way to get the width and height without prompting the user...
