Insert an image into database

Hy!
First of all i wanna say that i readed the articles about this subject but they dident help me at all!

So please help me!
I created a database in mysql with a blob field(is this the type for the field i should use for images?) and with EMS MySql Manager software i inserted an image into the field. But then i'm browsing the database into the browser i'm not seeing any image but instead i see the code of the jpg file( at least i thing that is the code)
I tried with the scripts from the article, i chanched the variables acording to my database but it dosent work.

So the question is what should i do for inserting an image into my database?

To my knowledge, there is no way to insert an actual image into a database. What I have done in the past is to insert the image name/path into the database and have the image saved in a folder on a server.

Ex. If a user is uploading a picture called pic1.jpg to view later, the picture might be saved in a folder called pictures. In the mySQL database, you would save "pictures/pic1.jpg" and just save the file that particular path.

Then, if you wish to call it, you can set the variable $picture to equal what you saved in the SQL database and use a img tag in html.

Ok first of all i wanna thank you for posting an answer so soon!

Now let me see if i understand: i can't save an image into a mysql bd! Right? I need only a field which contains the phisical addres of the image file(ex. images/image1.jpg). After that i need a variable $picture and give him the value of the field!

Ok but if i have to print on screen more fields how can i do it?

I'll explain you my situation!
I have a database which contains the members of a company(name,address,phone,fax,e-mail etc. and the picture of the president)
This database i'm displaying it on a page (select * from database)
How could i possible display now the picture?

Let me try to clarify my explanation. Let's say your database contains the fields "first_name", "last_name", and "picture". You want to display all the president's first names, last names, and pictures.

As you can see, I just used the img tag in HTML to display the image. The database contained the path to the picture (one example would be "pictures/picture1.jpg" depending on where all your pictures are kept). You can make a directory on your server where all the pictures will be kept.
