Customizing This User Script

Hey, I'm following this tutorial and I'd like to know if anyone can help me customize this script any.

I want to be able to show stuff like forums have. Members Online, Members Online today, Guests, Add Comments to News, submit their own articles and some more features, those are the main ones. Please let me know if anyone can do this or give me a tutorial on how to do this. Thanks.

Are you sure you want to really undertake such a task as that? making one or two changes isnt that bad, but what your asking for sounds like a full featured site..

You might want to look at something like phpnuke..

I definatly want to do this. I'd like to be able to create this program so that my site would be original. I work for originality and uniqueness. If I could get this worked out and created, it would be a great accomplishment for myself and my site. Then when I get better at PHP, I'd like to release it as a whole program for others to use as well. 🙂 I think that'd be pretty sweet. Please help if you can. I'd be really appreciative.
