PROS! Creating a NEW text file? Easy?

Hello pros,

I want to specify the name of a text file in my PHP script...

I want to WRITE contents to this file.

Now, how do I get PHP to create a text file if the file doesn't exist to write to? Any coding help is appreciated!

don't ask us
as the php documentation, it has all the anwers, and lots of stock usage code

to start you off in the right direction check out the [man]fopen[/man] in the documentation on php.net

if after reading through that and the other associated functions you might see that are interesting you are still in need of help

then please reply back with a more specific question

I've checked the manual. I can't find what I'm looking for.

I need help writing PHP that creates a file. How is fopen gonna open anything if the file doesn't exist?

I need to creat a file, then open it, then write my content to it.

If you're not gonna help, stay out of this thread instead of givin retarded references back to the PHP manual which I'm sure everyone consults on a daily basis here.

look over the section dealing with the 'mode' again in the fopen function

there are different ones for different situations, some of which will create the file for you if it doesn't exist.

there is more there also if you read it carefully

'w' - Open for writing only; place the file pointer at the beginning of the file and truncate the file to zero length. If the file does not exist, attempt to create it.

no problem, the manual is big and noone is expected to have it all memorized, its especially bad when im all frustrated about some problem and ive been hacking at it for a good long while, the manual seems to get longer and more boring just about then

ednark. Without the Manual we'd all be lost sheep in a paddock without a sheppard. Now its there we have our sheppard I dont see why we need to complain. Plus its got user Comments. Love that they always help you with the alien function if the manual doesnt explain it well.
