Date Mathmatics, arent they just great!!

Hey all. I need some help with some date marlarky, its probably just syntax as per usual with and i'll end up looking like a fool but who cares! ;]

Right, upon reading the mysql manual I came accross this beauty.... DATE_SUB(date, INTERVAL expr type)

So then I thought this will surely work to subtract 1 day from $row_rsJDATA['Del Date']

echo DATE_SUB($row_rsJDATA['Del Date'], INTERVAL 1 DAY);

Really what i want to achieve is to actually subtract $row_rsMATH['Time Allowed']/7 from $row_rsJDATA['Del Date'] but thought I'd ask about the first stage before getting this complex......

Anyone out there that could help would be greatly appreciated.

as far as i understand you look for the right syntax

1. the mysql way: (try that on mysql command line)
   select now() + interval 7 day as week_from_now, now() ;

2. the php way needs you to get the data from mysql with the as UNIX_TIMESTAMP, so use this following
   a. query: select UNIX_TIMESTAMP(field_name) as time from table;
   b. decrease 7 days $row['time'] /= (7 * SECOND_IN_DAY);
   c. get it to any readable time with strftime/date.
