Date Ranges From Database

I am a beginner with PHP and MySQL and have been struggling for a few weeks with a specific function I would like to employ for my web site.

The database is on a Unix Server and is a schedule of events with a date field in 01/01/2003 format. What I would like to do is echo events with dates that are within 2 weeks in the future of the current date to the main page of the site.

Does someone have a sample of code that will acheive this?

Any help would be much appreciated.

What do you mean when you say that the field is in "MM/DD/YY" format? Is it not defined as a "date" data type in mySQL?

using the appropriate mySQL date format YYYY-mm-dd:

$date =  date ('Y-m-d');
$date_in_2_weeks =  date ('Y-m-d', time () + 1209600);

mysql_query ("SELECT * FROM table_name WHERE date BETWEEN '$date' AND '$date_in_2_weeks'");

I'll try the code suggested above. What format should I make the Date field in the db to work with it? mmddyyyy?
