Hi,
Does anyone out there knows how to append updates to a textfield? Don't get what I mean?
I am currently doing this system that keeps a log of the network status every minute. Therefore there would be a text field that would keep retrieving information from the database and print it in the text field with the results:
[16:20] Ping Results 11/12/11ms
[16:21] Ping Results 12/12/11ms
[16:22] Ping Results 11/12/11ms
I can archive the same display by using iFrame etc as well. But now the problem is not with the upgrade frequency etc, but I wish to know , is thre anyway I can only UPDATE the UPDATED results?
Like whenever the page is refreshed, only the latest ping result wold be updated:
[16:20] Ping Results 11/12/11ms
[16:21] Ping Results 12/12/11ms
[16:22] Ping Results 11/12/11ms
[16:23] Ping Results 14/12/11ms <- appended update.
So that I would not have to retrieve information from the text file, or mysql database again and go through reformatting again whenever there is a refresh (every minute). Because the moment where a few hours passes, there might be thousand of lines to reformat again, instead of just one line, which is the actually update.
I believe this can be archieve by some javascript or php technics, anyone have a solution for this?
