is there a server built into linuxor do i have to download apache? is php with the server or do I have to download that, smae with mysql?

I see from your other post you are running Redhat.

Apache, php and mysql would be packages(rpm) on one of your installation cdrom's. You'll need to install them. See if you
have gnorpm installed to help you.

I would advise you to use Mandrake Linux,
very easy for beginners.
