I have two forms. The first form is a list with radio-buttons. Is it possible to make my second form assign a varible depending on which radio-button is checked?
Not if they are on the same page. Unless you want to write some Javascript. Basically, once the PHP is finished running and has displayed the page, that's all she wrote until the user advances to another page or reloads the same page.
