Installing RedHat

ok...Im quite new, wait let me refrace that.....extremely new to RedHat Linux.

Ive installed this operating system about 4 million times but yet cant get the thing running. The installation goes prefect, but as soon as it comes to boot time... 🙁

Im running a AMD Duron, 128 ram, 20 gig drive. When I boot straight from the drive. I get the following error:

Error 28: Selected item cannot fit into the memory.

and when I boot from the boot disc, everything starts loading untill I get to the login screen...everything goes blank and nothing happens.

So if there are any Linux gurus out there, please help

I honestly have not seen this one before. Here's a link to a search on google groups that may help.

If I had to guess I'd say the hard drive was never completely formatted properly. There may be some old stuff from the original master boot record mucking up the boot process.

but surely if you use a boot disc, you will not need to the boot partition...because you by pass it with the disc. Do you know what this means

Error 28: Selected item cannot fit into the memory.

I think I found the problem. Its either one of two things. the AMD Duron chipset or the nVida GEFORCE 2 MX.
