Making a Graph chart

Say i have some Data in a Database that i want to display ina graphical manner using either a pie chart or a graph... How would i goa bout that with Php?

I know this is a genereal question but where should i start? Is it worth all the trouble? etc...

ive never done it but there is a graphics library associated with php

read all about it in the [man]image[/man] section of php

Thanks i'll definately look through it, but it looks pretty cryptic with no specific examples. Does anyone have any working examples of a simple Bar Graph chart? Something like, for each month it shows bars where jan=10 feb=220 etc...?

I'm really interested in this and have no idea where else to look.

You can do it with Vector Markup Language (IE specific and a pain in the neck). Bring up this page and view the source:

A very common way is to use a small .gif image and enlarge its height according to the data.

For example a number 100 out of total 200 could be represented as 100*100/200 = 50 points in HTML height tag.

alexP, if you are going to do it that way... just use a <div /> tag instead of an image... set the widht and height the same... and just give the <div /> a background color 🙂
