xml parsing and character handling

Hi All,

i'm really in trouble with this function:
xml_set_character_data_handler()

apparently it doesn't work with accentuated characters (like é or è or à ...) wich very important for (in my case) french content.

what does it do ?
the function stops and doesn't consider any 'accentuated char', so i have disapearing characters in my final text !

can anyone help ?

charset and using the numeric equivalents of the characters...

\à' for the a with the accent (strip the slashes)
