Install problem, maybe variables?

Hi all, I'm having a problem installing PHP on a new machine and I'm at wits end. I am running a Win2K Server with apache 1.3 , mysql 3.23 and php 4.2.3. I configured everything the same way I did with my laptop which works, but for some reason when I try and use it my variables aren't getting passed. I know it's not my coding because the code works on other machines and I even tried production scripts like phpmyadmin and those don't work as well. Anyone have any problems like this before?

This is the register_globals problem that has been talked about on here and many other places since 4.2 came out. Either use $GET[],$POST[],$_SERVER[],etc (recommended), or set register_globals to on (not recommended).

I've tried all 3 and it doesn't help, tried $_POST, $HTTP_POST_VARS and turning on register_global. The thing I don't get is it's an identical setup from server to my laptop and my laptop works, server wont. Not my script either since phpmyadmin does the same thing, so it must be something with the php, thanks for the help though

I know your problem.
Working at my home computer (not connected to internet) everything was OK. I could run all PHP scripts on IP=127.0.0.1

But trying to set server on my comp connected to LAN and internet I found that IP=127.0.0.1 wasn't my IP!!! Connecting to 127.0.0.1 I reached the web site of my provider :-)
This problem I got working on early version of Win95 and mainly because my LAN admin is a guy who wants to make our net more secure :-)

Working on Linux I have no such problem :-)
Try to set server on linux or working in Windows try to change http.conf to listen your proper IP (other than 127.0.0.1).
