I would have to agree with stolzyboy on that one... So many of the scripts today require you to edit them to some extent that you almost need to know the fundamentals of PHP prior to installing them. It can be frustrating at first when you spend an hour looking for a place you forgot to put a ; or " - but in the end it helps you become more attentive of such errors in the future. On almost half the freebie scripts I use I find some sort of error or miss placed character.
And of course you always have this forum to fallback on when you run out of hair to pull. As far as the database structure here is what I would use:
Database: Visitors_quotes
Table: Visitor/member/etc
Field #1: visitorID - key & autoincrement
Field #2: User
Field #3: Pass
Table: Quotes
Field #1: QuoteID - key & autoincrement
Field #2: Date
Field #3: message/body/quote/etc
Field #4: tag line //optional
Field #5: visitorID
It would then be simple to create a MySql query statement to retrieve an array of all the Quotes posted by say... visitor 3. Or you can have in get all the taglines from the Quotes and display
them.
Anyways have fun and try not to bust to many keyboards.
