I have been using php as a back end to web sites for 4 years. I am starting a new position as a systems administrator. Since i already know PHP very well and it can be used as a shell scripting language, im very hesitant in learning Perl or Bash.
Besides knowing PHP better than any other shell scripting language, are their any other advantages to its use for shell scripting. Are their any major disadvantages? Any inisght would be great, becasue im trying to convince my superiors that this would be a good choice.
