mkdir() problems

Ok here's a werid problem.

Whenever I use the following it creates directories that have no owner and now group on the server. Which in turn leaves me unable to delete these directoires on my admin account.

mkdir($imgDir, 0755);

This is on a apache server running redhat and php4.

Any thoughs?

try this

mkdir($imgDir, 744);

this only work on unix based systems (linux)

on windows the chmod doesnt matter

nope doesnt work. It seems any time I try to set the permissions they get all screwed up.

Also, if i use just mkdir($imgDir) it sets the permissions to 755 like I want it however. Its still showing nobody as the owner of the folder so on my main ftp account I can not do anything to the folder. The only way i can remove the folder is if I delete it using rmdir().

Any other ideas? Is this a server config problem?

Ok it seems that the mkdir() command is not assigning a user to the folder when its made. My host had me try chgroup() and chowner() but as I figured they did not work b/c you need super user privlages for these commands.

Is there some way that I can or my host can change some settings so that ANY file made by php would automaitically inherate ownership by the account owner?
