Upgrading to 4.3 from 4.3(dev)

Well the 4.3(dev) version I have is not the complete and final release of 4.3. And I need the gd libraries to work with and cannot figure out how to install them so since GD has been slipstreamed with php 4.3 I decide just to go for a plain upgrade.

I am running apache 2.0.43 on a windows 2k pro server and I cannot find any patches or instructions on upgrading...do I just do the normal install for php? Will I need to change the htconfig file for apache? and will I need to uninstall the old php in any what / or go through the registry?

I have done quite a bit of looking around on the net and google and php.net and have not found a thing that makes sense to me on this matter. So any help would really be appreciated.

Do I just delete the files I copied over to the various directories on windows and remove the references in the apache config file...and then go ahead and install the new php 4.3 as normal? or is there some more complex procedure?

No need to modify or overwrite any config files, if you are on windows, just copy the distribution you download to the directory where you have php 4.3.0dev installed, in my case it is c:\php

and overwrite the php4ts.dll file in c:\windows\system32 with the one you download. That should be it.

well worked perfectly now im running php 4.3.1 so now I can play with GD 😉
