What field type should i use?

Hi!

I am doing a publishing system for my website, and all thingys that belongs to a ceratain document, will be adressed with the item_id that owns it.

So, the id for screenshots will for example be something like '1023', and will be generated from the document id + a two digit random number. For these mysql inputs, i am right now using SMALLINT.. I think. Is that the correct one to use? Or should i just go with VARCHAR or sommething?

Doesn't really matter. Using a number locks you into numbers forever, but if that's all you need...
