Hi!
As you might know, from my other 3000 need help threads, i am working on a pitty complex publishing system for my website. And now i came up with the greate idea, to put the menu in a database aswell, so i dont need to go in to its source code and update it everytime i do my publishing.
The little thing is, that its not like i can sort the menu items after date or sommething. And I want at the same time be able to move the menu items up or down.
So I was thinking about creating a little ID system, that sorts the menu items after id. Say that the menu items ID goes from 1 +. Now lets say I have a list of the menu items, and I want to move one item like 1 step up, then i just click the move on step up button next to it, and the scripts take that menu items id(say 6) and + it with 1 (7) and simply updates thats menu items id to 7. The next thing it does, is ofcourse to update the "former" menu item nr 7, and - it by 1 (6) and then updates it to 6. Shmock! World order changed!
Am I on the right way, or I am not thinking clearly an this is a totally crazy way to do it on?
