Which editor to use

I am looking for a PHP editor to do the following

Auto Complete a statement like when you enter in

echo " it will complete it with "; or display what parms can be used like with connection strings.

Also I need one that will check syntax to help me locate incomplete statements.

Any help would be helpful. I am limited in funds so I cannot afford a really expensive one.

You could try using the personal version of the Zend Studio. Don't know if it's any good but it is free, I think.

A good one that is also kindof cheap is PHP Expert Editor. It doesn't complete your code for you but it does display parameters and has syntax checking. http://www.ankord.com

Heh, I just use Metapad, a diffrent version of notepad that hasa few cool features, like you can click and drag text, insert auto-tabs, bind code to alt-0 to alt-9 keystrokes and it inserts the code automatically for you and a couple other schweet features.

I actually just replaced notepad.exe fron the dllcache and the system32 with notepade.exe (this one being a renamed version of metapad). It works pretty well and I do most of my php work with it.

i just use dreamweaver MX, it will tell you what needs to go in most functions, and it highlights key words and such

Another free option (if the cost is more important than code-completion) is ConTEXT. www.fixedsys.com/context ... it comes with loads of languages, and code highlighting schemes, a project manager ... over all, for open-source/freeware it's very good.

I have Zend ... it's great - the best feature is not actually code-completion but it's debugging options.
