/'s in text fields, How do I fix them?

Hello, I have a php script that asks people for their title for a story on the main page, where they enter the title and press continue. On the next page it shows text fields that they need to fill out. The problem is that if they enter a ' or " in their beginning title. It will mess up the title text field on the next page, this also happens when they have a " or ' in their title and they want to edit their title. Does anyone know how I can eliminate this problem?

$titlevar = stripslashes( $titlevar);

Should do the trick.

magic_quotes_runtime(1) in your php.ini file. [I think it's runtime, it might be something else though since I haven't really configed a php.ini file in months.]
