Advice needed - coding a form

Hello all, I'm the web master for a local car club. I'm currently working on a sign up form for an upcoming festival we're having. I've got the "static" version mocked up here:

Basically, you fill out the quantities for each line item and then it calculates the line item and grand totals.

You then fill out your personal info and choose the payment method.

For both payment methods, an email needs to be sent to an email address which will send a text only version of this form with all its info.

Then based upon which payment method you choose, it will redirect to one of two pages. One page will list the grand total and provide instructions to mail your payment, the other page will have a link to pay via paypal using their single item checkout cart.

Now, I'm a relative newbie when it comes to writing this code from scratch. I'm fairly good now at taking some snippets of code or taking complete solutions and modifying them for my purposes. (Just check out the rest of the site 😃 )

Can some one get me going on the right track here. I mainly need help with the top part of the form (all the line item quantities and then calculating the grand total).

I've already got a mail/redirect process to take care of the rest. So I should be OK there. Thanks all.

Try...

$prereg = $_POST['prereg'] * 35;
$dinner = $_POST['dinner'] * 20;
etc...

$total = $prereg + $dinner + etc...;

echo $total;

Something like that?

Well, here's something I wrote recently. (No snickers from the gallery, or the Echo Lounge, please.....)

Dunno why I'm giving it away, but I guess I am a proponent of "Open Source." Besides, it's a simple thing, really, and it'll take you a while to modify it, and Dad used to take me on rallyes, so many years ago (snif!)....

I have a webhosting company and as such, my purchase forms are quite extensive. As you may guess, there are a number of options for selection and pricing updates that go with that. I use a JavaScript linked to an 'onclick' event that calls the javascript function. This reinitializes the form with the prices updated. You also need to echo the value of the INPUT object back to itself, ie., <input type="checkbox" name="mktboost" <?php if($mktboost == 'on'){echo " CHECKED";}?> onClick="changeRequiresSubmit(this);">MarketBooster [Add $34.95/mo.]<br></td>

This will automatically refresh the form with the new values. I've attached a copy of one of my forms for you. It's a bit extensive but you should be able to see how it functions.
