ImageCopyMerge

I haven't seen a lot of tutorials on the web regarding ImageCopyMerge and was wondering if anyone had any online resource suggestions.

Ideally, here is what I'm looking to do in a PHP script:

• Have user upload photo image (which I've already coded successfully);

• Merge that uploaded image with another transparent image on the server;

• Creating a new image where their photo is "framed" the the standard border treatment given to all uploaded images.

An example might be taking an uploaded square photo and inserting it into a hollowed-out circle frame above it to cut the corners off all edges.

I've tried a couple tutorial examples regarding dynamically generating images but haven't had much success getting them to do what I'm looking for yet.

I have PHP Version 4.0.6 and GD 1.6.2.

Also wanted to clarify that I'm not looking to draw on top of an image or place a drawn shape on top of it, but instead wondering if you can have a frame designed image with a transparent center and merge that with another image behind it.
