PHP "Select Directory" window

Somebody's gonna jump right on this. I believe this to be an easy question, but I just simply don't know, and can't seem to figure it out...

How do I get the little "folder" or "browse" icon where a user can select a directory that inserts itself into a little text field. Note: I'm not talking about a specific file, but rather, the entire directory. Like when you unzip a file to a certain folder. One of those popups.

Um, a form field for uploading a directory? Where've you seen one of those?

not for uploading a directory, just selecting it

I know message boxes can be popped up for selecting a specific file to upload, for example, but I need to stop at the directory.

This CAN be done, correct?

Does anybody know how (or even if) this can be done? This is very important to me.

This can be done with an .exe, but it can't be done by a web app 🙁 Browsers don't implement that...Maybe it is available in the JVM, so it may be possible to use an applet...But HTML or JavaScript won't be able to do it.
