Need help with redirections ;(

Well, I have this problem for quite a while...
I simply cannot make one frame to refresh the another.

Firstly, I don't know if that is at all possible, but I think it has to be 🙂

So, here we go...

<frameset cols="25%,75%" border="0">
<frame src="menu.php" name="menu">
<frame src="main.php" name="main">
</frameset>

I have those two frames. 'menu', and 'main'. Well, when user clicks 'logoff' on 'menu', I want to refresh both 'menu' and 'main' frames.

And here's the problem ;(

When user clicks 'logoff', it just like he clicked something like "logoff.php?action=logoff" On the logoff.php I have some thingies that destroys cookies/sessions and some other things.
At the end of code I have two lines

<meta http-equiv=refresh content=\"2; url=logo1.php\">
<meta http-equiv=refresh content=\"2; url=logo2.php\" target="main">

You'll notice this 'target' I just added. Well, it doesn't work, but it server me like an example for now. I just want you to know what I need. I can refresh one frame with the first line, but I can't refresh the onther one.

Can you advise?

One possible solution is that

if u use a form on the source frame then make target="main" in the form elements. It will refresh the target frame with the action u want to take.

This is probably not what u want. But this is the best I can say u.

yeah i dont think you can add targets to refreshes.

The easiest way around a similar situation i found was to call the logoff.php into a target="_top" farme - that way it gets rid of the frames you had. Then when that page has done it's stuff you can do a redirect (using the header(location=...) thing rather than a meta refresh) to a page that will reestablish your frames, if that makes sense.

I guess you could make your frameset page php also, and then call the content dynamically.

Ok, you might get confused now, so let me explain 🙂

At the stage of having stable working script I had only one frame. And it worked great 😉 But my boss wanted me to have a little menu bar.. grr.... of course, I made him his menu bar...
But then I came to a wonder. On the left (menubar) were user options. And when user logs off, his options would stay! So I had to refresh that frame to. And then I faced a problem of refreshing two pages instead of one! 🙂
I tried to find out how to destroy frames, and to return to a normal window look. Noone could help me. So I didn't even think about asking the same question here but I took the alternate path... Using window.open to open a new, single-framed window, and window.close to close the previous, double-framed, one. Right as you guess, it failed to work 🙂
So I came up with the idea of both frames refresh. It failed to work too. actualy I couldn't even imagine how to do that in the first place LOL 🙂

But now you've told me that I shouldn't have changed my script at all since it worked very well since the day one 🙂
