nl_langinfo problem after installing PHP.

I have just installed FreeBSD 4.4 and successfully installed and had running apache 1.3.20. I then installed PHP-4.2.3 and MySQL packages.

However since then, apache is no longer running. I have tried to restart it with the command apache.sh but get the following error.

Syntax error on line 237 of /usr/local/etc/apache/httpd.conf:
Cannot load /usr/local/libexec/apache/libphp4.so into server: /usr/local/libexec/apache/libphp4.so: Undefined symbol "nl_langinfo"

I have checked the httpd.conf file and php.ini file looking for this reference. I cannot find where the problem lies.

I cannot find any help on the internet. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I did solve this problem. I think that I was installing incompatable versions of PHP and MySQL. I ended up uninstaling PHP, MySQL and APACHE, upgrading all the ports and then installing the three again. It is important to install MySQL first, then APACHE and PHP last.

Yeah, I will give it another try, I am doing this on a live production server so reinstalling everything is not an option.
I have to figure out a way to do it. if you run across anything the provide another solution by chance I sure would appreiciate it if you would stop by here and post a note on it.

Alright, I have installed FreeBSD onto another machine and have come across this error again . The method I used to fix the last one has failed and have had enough of this error.

If anyone has any idea how to overcome this, I would love to hear it.

Hi,

I'm not that experienced in FreeBSD but this might be a bug in FreeBSD that PHP can't handle:

nl_langinfo seems to be defined in libc but nl_langinfo.h is missing.

Read the following bug report to see how to solve it:

On the other hand it could be that nl_langinfo isn't defined in libc at all so there might be a fix to download at freebsd.org.
