Hello everyone,

Can anyone guide me as to how to set up to control two servers? My local server on my own computer and the server which hosts my site.

I have tried to amend the config file but it does not seem to work. I am hoping that this will enable me to effect mysql database backups.

i really don't understand the question.
what I think your trying to say is:

you want to backup your website's mysql database to your personal comptuer?

i think the line that throws me off it this one:

Also, i don't think running 2 version of PHPMyAdmin would affect the server, but it would be unnecessary because you can set users to different databases, unless you have something else in mind?

In case you intend to be able to control two servers with one installation of phpmyadmin:

In the config.inc.php are definitions for 3 DB-Servers already set - you only need to fill them.

Sorry if I was not making myself clearer.

phpMyAdmin allows for transfer of tables from one database to another on my local server.

I am starting to upload all this to the hosting company's server and as I saw that phpMyAdmin can manager multiple servers, I thought I might use that feature to transfer tables from the hosting server (the one online) to my local server, the one in my office.

I have tried to play with the config file and I see both servers now. But once I select one server, all I then see are the databases on that server, and not the ones on the other.

If this not possible with phpMyAdmin, how do you guys do your own database backups?

Open config.inc.php and modify the other $cfg['Servers'] variable.
