Catching title of page

I've got a site running here:
http://www.izzymillerfurniture.com/

Now, say you clicked on About Us.

You'll notice that I've set it up to spit out a title (using a switch statement in this case). So you see:
http://www.izzymillerfurniture.com/aboutus.php?title=aboutus

What if someone were to come in from a search engine to, say:
http://www.izzymillerfurniture.com/aboutus.php

I would then have no title at the top of my page. How can I catch this so it always puts out the correct title?

Wow...it sounds like you are really overthinking this one. Why not just hard the title? like on the top of "aboutus.php" just write

$title = "About Us!";

Or if you titles are dynamic through some means pull it from where ever it exists and put it on the top of "aboutus.php".

$title = $whereever;

No?

I probably am overthinking it. I always say, if you can't make it really difficult then it's not worth doing. 🙂

Seriously, I thought it would be smart to put my title in a variable and echo it out in the header. I've got the $title in a header file, and I'm including that header file in various pages, ie. aboutus.php.

Make sense?

Before you include your header file..just add the line...

if (!isset($title)){
   $title = "About Us";
}

That way if it gets passed through the url then great...if not it's covered.

done and done

(plus some search engines don't like to spider ..?tkfjk=owdj type urls as much as aboutus.php style)

That'll work too 🙂 Even easier, I opted to echo out $title in my header file I include on every page. Adding $title = "Whatever"; BEFORE my header include overwrites whatever $title was before and spits out the correct title for that page.

Which I think is actually what you said in your first post.
