need big help please

greetings, i need help with a function.

i'm building a site for a computer store and they want a section where visitors can built their own computer.

this site has a online shopping cart hability and i use MySQL for the database which has this tables:

users
orders
cart
products
news
banners
manufacturers
promotions

now, how can i make a form with drop down options for this section, it has to be dinamic 'cause if someone chooses Pentium IV for platform the menu with the motherboards can't have boards for AMD, how do i query the products table to this form dynamicly according to each new choice.

i would like to use external class functions 'cause it's how the rest of the site is done.

any thoughts?!

The easiest way to do this is in youR database design, careful planning at the begining will make your life a lot lot easier (believe me i know from hours of frustration)

yes i know i that can be very frustrating but it's not the highest of my concerns, i'm more concerned with the form itself, how to make the query to pass the results into the drop menus and then according to the choice update the options in the next drop menus?

there are only 3 choices that require this update i think, the processor, memory and motherboard. the other are all compatible with every platform you choose.

anyone has done something like this, or have an idea in how to make it?

i solved how to load the options for a drop down menu from a table in the database but anyone has any idea in how to make the whole form?

i need several drop down menus for:

processor, memory, motherboards, etc...

this drop down menus have to load the options from the database, this i know, but the problem is the best way to make this....

a different query for each drop down?

any thoughts please, i really need help?🙁 🙁 🙁

Hi,

This is further to your very first query.

There are two ways to do this

Make some javascript arrays. Put an onchange on the select box (dropdown) and change the values of the other options accordingly.

The other option is to make the page refresh once he selects the option in the dropdown. To do this, you'll need to put an onchange for the select box. And set the option value such that on choosing the option, put window.location.href to whatever you want. The page will then refresh.

the problem is that maybe it's to advanced for me for now, or maybe it's just that with all this work on the main features of the shopping cart that i've completed only today i can't think straight.

i feel like i have to take some days to relax and clear my mind of any webdesign related issue 'cause my fuses are all burnt.

i still have till the end of march to do this, so no problem.
