setting server directory across a network?

hello, i've got apache/php/mysql running on winxp on my desktop. i also have the same configuration on my laptop. however, anytime i develop on the laptop, i have to copy files back and forth from the desktop to the laptop.

is there anyway i can set my laptop's server to access the desktop files as the home directory? so i wouldn't have to copy files back/forth all the time?

Simple - map the network drive. So basically, the drive that has the server with apache etc on it (on your desktop) would remain as it is, and you set up a workgroup between your desktop and laptop, then on your laptop, right click on My Computer, select Map Network Drive, select the drive on the server, and then it adds a shortcut to that drive on your laptop. That way, whenever you laptop is connected to your desktop, you can edit the files on the server's drive directly from your laptop.

That's what I do.
