cookies on homepage

Hi,

I know that when you set cookies with PHP that you need to put them above the <HTML> tag. My question is, if I have many many lines of cookie code in PHP on my homepage, will that slow it down or make it harder for search engines to locate the meta tags/description etc. with those extra lines? Or does the search engine not even know it's there?

php is server side scripting. It gets processed on the server and replaced by the html code or just pure text that it creates.
