Location of match within a string

Hello all,

I have two strings:

$str1 = "Happy birthday Tommy";
$str2 = "Tommy";

how do I find out where in $str1 $str2 occurs?

Quoting the PHP manual

Returns the numeric position of the last occurrence of needle in the haystack string. Note that the needle in this case can only be a single character. If a string is passed as the needle, then only the first character of that string will be used.

If needle is not found, returns FALSE.

Therefore strpos cannot be used where multiple characters are required within the needle.

Is there another option?

my mistake I got strpos() and strrpos mixed up.

However I still cannot get a value to be returned by the strpos() function.
