hotmail style attach

i have managed to create an upload for single files and thats working fine. but i was wondering how i would go about creating a multiple file upload. like the one used to attach files in hotmail. where the file i attach can be seen in a box to the right, and i can select and remove it if i want to, or just keep adding files till the size limit is reached. anyone got a clue on how i would go about doing this?

Basically every time you press "Attach", the script will upload the file to a temporary directory. Then when you press "ok" and then "send", it will look at the files in that temporary directory and attach them all to the e-mail.

am actually sending them to the database together with information from a form filled out. but i suppose its the same principle. one more thing. how would i go about making the files i upload be part of the form. so when i pull all the information in a table to to viewed i can click on a link and view the uploaded files. not sure how i would go about keepin uploaded files togther with the specific form... suggestions??

I would assume that you are putting the attachment entries into your database with a unique identifier. They should also have an identifier to link them back to your email.

like:

| id | email_id | filename |
| 1 | 53 | test.txt |
| 2 | 53 | test2.txt |

this way you can just grab all the entries for your email id and attach the files when the user clicks send.

well the thing is i dont want to email anything just want to enable the user to upload multiple image files, in the same way you attach files in hotmail. And put the links to the images in the database together with the relevant form. I cant seem to figure out how to add links to the image in the database. so if the user clicks the link the image will pop-up.

would adding anchor links work for you.

for example:

user uploads image or references image in some manner.

you store the image name in the db as <a href="$imagefile"><img src="$imagefile" border="0" /></a>

i still cannot seem to figure out what i do to add a link to the database that point to the image???

My time is running out fast.. so if anyone has a simple script that does this please post it. i have seen all the relevant posts on this board, and cannot get anything working. The stage i am at now uploads an image, and shows the image you uploaded. but i cannot seem to get it to put a link in the DB.

I dont really need to do all the stuff mine does at the moment, all i need to do is upload an image and put a link to it in the DB.

but of course if you have one that does this and multiple images all the better. but thats not the main prob at the mo.

if anyone is serious enough to help me with my problem i can mail them the file upload class. mind you you probably have to know what your doing to be able to understand the class.

What do you mean by "putting a link in a DB"? You want to insert a "<a href='pic.jpg'>" into a db field?

yes so when i pull out the info into a display that the user will see he/she can click the link and see the picture in a pop-up.

You can create a script that will output, instead of HTML, an image. So instead of a "text/html" content-type, you'd send "image/gif" or "image/jpeg" and then you'd send the binary data of the image.

Hm..not really, but something like this:
